Airborne Allergies and Hayfever
Solutions for your environmental allergies.
From the Disease Model perspective allergies and hayfever result from an immune system that has become overreactive due to a variety of stresses and nutritional deficiencies. Of course, it is important to acknowledge a genetic component to these allergies, but even genetic influences can be identified and modified to a certain extent through nutritional intervention and dietary and lifestyle modifications.
Food allergies play a large role in causing the immune system to be overreactive. Common food allergens that are involved in this process are eggs, dairy products, wheat/gluten, yeast, peanuts, chocolate and food colorings.
Signs and Symptoms:
- itchy eyes and skin
- runny nose and stuffiness
Lifestyle Changes:
- reduce exposure to airborne allergens when they are at their highest levels
- make sure indoor vents and air filters are installed and maintained
Dietary Changes:
- Reduce common food allergens
- increase fruits and vegetables in the diet
- in particular bioflavinoids found in citrus fruit can help stabilze allergies unless of course you have a citrus allergy
Protocols:
- Similase digestive enzymes to help with possible food sensitivities-one with each meal
- HMC/ Nettles- 1-3 capsules daily starting 4 weeks before allergy season.
