    Adrenal
    • I went to my doctor and he said there is no such thing as adrenal fatigue? Is there any research to support this condition?
Yes there are plenty of lab tests available that validate what I will call adrenal dysfunction. It is unfortunate that some doctors will recognize the two extremes of adrenal disease -i.e. Cushings and Addisons but they will not acknowledge anything in between.

I have personally suffered from adrenal fatigue so I know it exists and many of my patients the same.

Please read my book, Thriving in Mind, Body and Spirit to understand more about your adrenal glands and to assess if you should be evaluated.

    Dietary Advice
    Fads, myths and fictions.
    • I have heard that one must be very careful about combining different foods with each other such as starch and protein with a meal.
While there are some individuals who respond well to food combining I have found that as one's digestion improves and strengthens that food combining becomes less critical. However, I have found that it is best to eat fresh fruits at least a half an hour after a heavier protein meal to help prevent a lot of gas from forming. Also portions are important! If one over eats on any meal- indigestion is sure to follow.
    • Some people promote that eating dairy is just plain bad for your body and should be avoided all together.
While it is true that dairy is a common food allergen it is also a good source of protein and calcium and lets not forget it tastes good!
Many people can also digest yogurt and certain cheeses but they have a hard time with milk. This may be due to an under production of the lactase enzyme to help break down lactose or it may be due to other factors such as processing. I recently had a patient that is able to drink fresh milk from their cow but has allergic reactions to store bought milk. Regardless of the reasoning- if you cannot tolerate milk well you can substitute rice or soy milk.
You can also experiment with digestive enzymes- lactase in particular, try taking extra lactobacillus bacteria which can help in the digestion of dairy or try getting an NAET treatment for your sensitivity. See NAET in health library.
    • What about the whole concept of eating right for your blood type? Is there any validity to this?
Many people who have followed the dietary suggestions of this diet have experienced health benefits. While there may be some truth to this concept, I find it hard to believe that God made different diets for different blood types. He certainly did not instruct Adam and Eve to eat different foods based on their blood type nor did He tell any of their offspring.

I believe some people benefit from the dietary suggestions because they perhaps avoid a food they have become sensitive to or just begin to simply eat a better diet overall. The question is why have so many people developed food allergies/sensitivities? See the health library-food sensitivities for more information.
